The Mah-Jong Bracelet was invented by Evelyn Gulick about 22 years ago. She was a creative artist and was making funky long dangling earrings and other jewelry out of garage sale parts and pieces.  One day she created a 7 tile bracelet with black plastic pony beads.   Whoopie Goldberg was one of the first to recognize the beauty of the Mah Jong bracelet. She appeared many times on talk shows in Europe with it on and it was known as the Whoopie bracelet. In her earlier Movies she is wearing some of them. Bracelets have appeared in Movies from the Revenge of the Nerds, to the most recent American Sweethearts.
